Retail Fixture Removal Checklist for a Store Reset or Move-Out

A store reset can mix merchandise, reusable fixtures, landlord property, vendor displays, and debris in one room. Create a disposition list before the floor is stripped. The goal is to decide what leaves, who may disconnect it, and where it goes.

Confirm ownership first

Review the lease, landlord instructions, and vendor agreements. Freestanding gondolas may belong to the retailer while a service counter, security pedestal, sign, or wall standard may not. Photograph the agreed condition and keep written approval for anything ambiguous.

Measure the fixture and the route

Record width, depth, height, and approximate weight. Then measure doors, vestibules, turns, elevators, and the loading opening. Note glass, sharp edges, unstable shelves, and removable components. A fixture that fits the doorway may still fail at a tight turn.

• Photograph the empty floor and complete a landlord walk-through.

Tennessee identifies certain batteries, lamps, electronics, paint-related material, and chemicals as materials that can require special management. Business waste is not accepted like ordinary household material, so confirm the route before mixing it into the load.
