Separate clean wood, metal, cardboard, fixtures, drywall, and mixed debris as work progresses. A better sort makes the load easier to assess and keeps restricted material visible.

What to confirm before the date
- Identify asbestos, lead, chemicals, and unknown dust before removal
- Keep exits and active work paths clear
- Separate sharp material and protruding fasteners
- Confirm loading-zone and contractor rules
- Estimate material by type and volume
Keep exceptions out of the general load
Flag chemicals, liquids, compressed gas, batteries, lamps, medical material, data-bearing devices, and anything unknown. Commercial hazardous waste needs a compliant route and is not accepted through Tennessee’s household program.
